Carlotta Holy-Steinemann was born in 1978, in Locarno.

While studying at the École Cantonale d'Art de Lausanne and at the Hochschule für Gestaltung Zurich, she specialized in camera. Carlotta Holy-Steinemann has been working since 1999 as a camerawoman in Switzerland, Kirgistan, Jamaica, India and other places abroad. She excels in various genres (fiction, documentary, animations and advertising. In 2013, she was nominated for the Swiss Film Prize for "Best Cinematography" with the film "Verliebte Feinde".
Her approach to capturing the best possible shot is a combination of «regard douce» and stamina.
